Haendel, Almira und die Hamburger Gaensemarkt-Oper

Renowned musicologist Prof. Dr. Hans Joachim Marx, Handel expert and friend of the Festival for many years now, has conceived a concert programme based on Almira, Handel’s very first work for the stage. In this year’s Stiftungskonzert, excerpts from Handel’s only surviving German-language opera are juxtaposed with earlier arrangements of the material. The Abchordis Ensemble with the soprano Marie Lys will be presenting this chamber concert in the University’s Great Hall.
